Lions and Tigers and. . .
Some people were upset that there were closures because of bears. There were closures because berries were super ripe and the bears were taking advantage of it and ignoring everything else. Apparently you can sneak up on them without them noticing until you're quite close - at which point you tend to startle the bear. Believe it or not, startling a bear at close range is considered a bad move by the park service.
