Mills College Pictures

Mills Hall, which was built in the 1870s and is a state historic landmark and is in the national register of historic places.

This is an ongoing project to gather together photos of Mills College. Mills is a private woman's liberal arts college in Oakland, California. It's a small, high quality college. It's probably best known for its education department and its studio art department but has a number of solid programs. According to US News and World Reports Mills College is among the top ten liberal arts colleges for women nationally and the top ten liberal arts colleges on the west coast, period. The Mills campus is 135 acres, with a number of interesting buildings around campus.

I should probably explain something about the "woman's college" aspect. There are a few dozen colleges in the US that preexist the current laws in regards to single-sex institutions, but that only applies to undergraduate programs. It's illegal to discriminate in graduate programs, and Mills has graduate programs including an MBA. So you'll see men on campus quite a bit, but you wouldn't expect any in an undergraduate class.

I'm on campus periodically for various reasons, and as I collect up some good shots I'll try to keep this page up to date, so check back often!
